Hey Michael,
A big user of MoI for prop makes...Problem I'm having is the dreaded obj workflow (a lot of back and forward with Z, mainly to check blocking and all sorts - I know a lot of users are now using Blender) - Max's plugin is still the quickest but the scaling and world position of the objects is a problem (attached - I'm getting a double scaling factor, which is 10mm in Z, 10mm in Houdini, 20mm with an altered world position in MoI), the other MoI wireframe mesh utility works obviously but is a bit of a time killer especially with high revision numbers...I know the line is MoI is mesh averse but is there in any any any hope of having an integrated straight-in-no-subD Michael Approved simple obj importer? I'm aware mesh sizes can be big but we can always optimise to correct that outside of MoI etc....Also I would kill to have some lovely faces involved...I've been banging my head against a wall on this for years, especially as people dump more and more fbx/obj into their Rhino models over time also...

Will accept any hack-y options of course!! I just feel Max's script has definitely had it's day...

Hi Rich,
re:

By default max's plugin automatically resizes the imported objects.
You can turn that feature off by passing his _ImportObj command an "exact" parameter.
So for example on a shortcut key set up the command part as:
_importObj exact

It's unlikely, because polygon mesh data is pretty much fundamentally not compatible with CAD.
What is it that you want to do with the polygon mesh objects after you have imported them?

Oh gosh that's mad - I thought the documentation had disappeared! Thanks for that, I had been using your little wireframe exe...This should clear me up pretty much!
It's a bit of a mixed bag really, there's a lot of Rhino usage in film Art Depts and Props and as time goes on and GPUs get better and better so the mesh content included in the 3dm's goes up (think it might be a Blender thing, a lot of concept is done there now, and drafties will usually build around these meshes to 'cad' them). Sometimes I'd just really like to nab some meshes in one go out of a Rhino file and not split everything up, Other times I'll be exporting between Z and MoI to maintain scale or rebuild some elements in cad in order to pass on...In the end it's mostly to have the mesh as a reference, I'll bring it in and lock it usually. I think like most people on here we just really don't want to have to use Rhino but there's always a slight pressure to as it seems to deal with meshes in an okay manner of recent times.
Again, massive respect for your overall methodology for keeping it simple so I'm not complaining!
