Full Version: create a ramp using helix, transform, loft, and shell

Hi,
I'm using Moi3d Version 4
I'm trying to create a ramp.
I create the shape of the ramp with lines.
I create the helix to have the shape formed along the lines.
I transform > curve the shape to the lines with 50 shapes.
I hide the helix ramp, and loft the shapes.
I end up with a ramp that I like.
I shell the ramp, and it creates the joined srf, but it's not joined, and is hollow.

Is there a better way to create a ramp that's solid?
thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary, after you have drawn your helix and a closed profile curve, select the
profile curve and run the Construct > Sweep command.

The prompt in the upper right corner of the window will say "Select rails". Select the helix
as the sweep rail and push "Done" (or right click in the viewport).

In the command options for the sweep command set the "Twist" option to "Twist: Flat":

Push "Done" or right click in a viewport to exit the Sweep command and you'll have a solid.

Michael,
Excellent.
I'll try that.
