Full Version: Can't get scripts to appear on Mac.

Is there any special process to get a script to appear in MOI? I've been fighting with making a offset of a "closed curve", and it keeps producing a "curve" which subsequently won't extrude properly.

There's a script on the forums from 2009, called CloseCurve.zip (contents of CloseCurve.js & CloseCurve.html).

https://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=2752.1

There's conflicting information on where to put the unzipped files, so I originally tried the first suggestion as to put it in the application package's 'commands' folder. Nothing changed after I restarted MOI.

I then removed the two files from the application package, and instead put them into "~/Library/Application Support/Moi/commands", the other suggestion presented on the forums.

Neither have made the script appear, so it's either something I'm doing wrong, or there's some process to activate a script.

I've restarted MOI (v4) several times, and not sure where or how I'm supposed to access the script.

Can anyone please assist?

I'm not even sure if this will fix my extruding issue, however if a "closed curve" works, and a "curve" does not, it seems like a rational place to start.

Thank you!

Hi Teddy, there are instructions for installing a script here:
https://moi3d.com/faq#Q:_How_do_I_install_a_plug-in_script.3F

It sounds like you've done that ok, you want to place it in
~/Library/Application Support/Moi/commands

After it is installed there won't be any immediate visual change in the UI, you need to set up a shortcut key to trigger it. More details at
https://moi3d.com/faq#Q:_How_do_I_install_a_plug-in_script.3F

Can you post a .3dm file with problematic curve? Or if you want to keep it private you can e-mail it to me at moi@moi3d.com

Thank you for your reply. I will give that a try.

I think I may have figured out the curve problem. I'm trying to extrude a vector shape I imported, and checking every millimeter of the path, I noticed some bad geometry, and have since fixed it.

As for the scripts, I thought it would appear like other's screenshots where an icon appeared on the UI for a script. I wasn't aware I had to setup a keyboard shortcut for them.

Despite licensing MOI for several years, I've only ever used it for fairly basic design tasks. Now that I'm doing more complex designs, I'm discovering how little I actually know. :D

Hi Teddy,

Imported vector graphics usually have problems. The geometry quality from illustration programs is just bad.

To find problems it helps to do View > Show Pts
