Good day.
Any one used Nvil? Rocket3f no longer available.
How does it compare to blender for modeling only?
I am looking for a polygon modeler to use with Moi.

something fast for only modeling. I sometimes render in blender but someone on this forum pointed out to light tracer and this is what I am going to use in the future.

Tnx.

Light tracer is not a modeler!

NVil is (was) a strong polygon modeler (like Rocket 3D)

As Polys is not made for Moi why take a very strong Poly modelers ?

Free TinkerCad online is sufficient for make simple objects...or more complex...

Free TopMod for make exotic objects is also a challenger!

Free Clavicula is also a true gem! (Physic engine, SDF )

And why not use directly inside Moi The subdivision by Max Smirnov ?

And fun with codeBlocks! ;)

Yes light tracer for render.

I am looking for a polygon for a few upcoming projects for next year...wood ornaments, car parts and some masks (Halloween type).

I know Nvil is a few years old...but if it is faster to model than in Blender that is good. (I am learning blender...but the fastest will win :D)

all of these to be machined and or 3d printed.

Tnx.

You have also the online free Onshape but not sure that an easy one! :)

I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjU31ij6BzA

This guy modeling a robot with Nvil and Moi3d...
I am going to give Nvil a serious try ...
In the end for me it will probably a combination of Moi,Nvil,3dcoat and light tracer :D

5 years ago those highly specialized software might have some advantage, but today I would just go with Blender for poly modelling.
Beside good native tools, you have a strong community to support more advanced features, often inspired by different DCC, making Blender as customizable as you want.

If you add the native procedural features (geometry nodes), I can't see anything missing.

<<< I can't see anything missing.

Maybe some simplicity but it's a such machine! :)

And depending of what do you want! :)

1 minute subdivision Moi

5 seconds moi

5 seconds render Ai

And all without any headaches and no many years of learning! :)

But not everyone is doing "random" stuff ... and please stop pollute every topic with this AI stuffs ... .. .

I don't know what kind of models you want to create.
But I want to add SDF modeling, were you could model
with live booleans. There exist also a addon for Blender.

Here the big SDF modeling thread on the Blender Artist forum.

What I do is very specific...what I model...or try to is something that I can actually make in real life.
Otherwise there is no point and or motivation for me.

My problem with Blender is the same with Rhino..they are too big, too many Icons, options etc.

So id rather use smaller, more efficient programs to get things done fast and if I really need something I could use part of the bigger program to get it done. like Rhino shrinkwrap or Blender By-gen add on.
For instance Freecad...the only thing I need it for is for is its gear generator.

I am a total noob to polygon modeling so I need something to get going fast...the only problem with Nvil is the lack of tutorials but I use Blender and Silo ones to get used to the techniques.

Tnx.

I do a bit of modelling with "MagicsCSG", a tiny SDF modeller
by Epthracy, the guy who made Magicavoxel.

There is a demo you could try
Here is the link
https://ephtracy.github.io/index.html?page=magicacsg

To get the actual full Version you have to be a Patreon
(€ 6.55.- a Month)

In case you don't know, there is also a fork of Blender
called "Bforartist" (Blender for Artist).

Here is the goal from their website:
"The main goal of the Bforartists fork is to provide a refined
graphical user interface and better usability for Blender.
This means a complete change in usage philosophy, away
from hotkey-centric UX towards a user-friendly, discoverable
and intuitive graphical user interface."

The MagicaCSG I already see a use for it in the future for me.

Blender for artist...still too much going on lol. (I will probably test Blender again when I improve my skills...because it is an awesome program.)
Nvil it is for polygon :D for now....

I have 3dcoat ...but I will use it next year for something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SEU8YeqMwg
on a resin 3d printer.

Tnx!

Good day.
Nvil it is for polygon :D

this seem like a perfection software to use in combination with Moi3d.
I had blender for years and could not make anything out of it..atleast with this I could make something without wasting too much time.

Now i have to figure out how to start with a base drawing in Moi3d (for exact measurements) and build upon that in Nvil back to Moi3d then to Vcarve.

tnx.

you can make this sort of subdivision directly in moi! ;)
Maybe less easily but... as you start from imagination from nothing that progress as we go along...

Only 4 tools! THX Max Smirnov! ;)

You could give Wings 3D a try. Sub-D modeler with clutter-free interface.

This old free or quasi free one is not so bad too! ;) Hexagon 2 (old French Quality)
And some easy against other polys modelers!
https://www.daz3d.com/hexagon-2-5-download-version

Very light interface like Moi! ;)

Inside Moi with _ImportOBJ by Max Smirnov...somany faces... but Nurbs!

So export from Hexagon as Subdiv 0 and reload with the Native SubD of Moi! SubD / Create from file!

That is perfect! :) Pure Nurbs!

From: Frenchy Pilou (PILOU)

Careful with the Nurbs result inside MOI : it must be not self intersected !

Following Booelan Diff was not work (even Boolean Merge does) :)

So better to have clean models! ;)

Some cool Videos here ;)
