Full Version: V5 Bug

From: alteschinken (DONOLDHAM)

When trying to slice a tube, using a pane, the slice is about 45 degrees different from the angle of the slicing pane. I have included the MOI file for an example. This may be a bug.

Hi alteschinken, there are 2 objects at the cutting location, one is a rectangle curve (this one):

And the other is a plane surface:

You'll get different results if you select the either the curve or the surface as the cutting object, because planar curves will make a cut by extruding out a cutting volume like this:

If you select the plane as the cutting object and not the curve it should work as you wanted.

Please let me know if you're still seeing a problem there.

Attached is a file which opens fine. However, when I select the tallest object, and try to MOVE it, it will crash every time.

Hi alteschinken, what operating system are you running on?

Is there a crash dump file being generated?

I don't seem to be able to reproduce the crash over here.

Thanks,
- Michael

If you drag to select then move it does crash but if you just click and move the tall object it does not crash.

There are a lot of extra geometry that are not part of the solid that may be causing the issue:

Hi Charlie, do you get a crash dump file created?

Ok, the crash is specific to new style Macs with the M1/M2 arm64 CPU. It's from a difference in behavior from Intel with how division by zero is handled. I'll have a fix for the next beta shortly.

New v5 beta at https://moi3d.com/beta.htm should fix this crash.

Thanks, - Michael

The Nov beta does fix the crash issue.

alteschinken: Your file has some weird anomalies in it. Not sure how you ended up with the geometry in the red circle, but you cannot select them.

There was a curve mirroring bug accidentally introduced in the Nov-29 v5 beta released yesterday.

So if you got that one please throw it out and get a new Nov-30 v5 beta instead at https://moi3d.com/beta.htm .

Wow! Michael, can you upload the new Nov-30 v5 beta to the Download section for OTOY subscribers?

There was another bug where objects that were hidden when initially loaded would get stuck in a wireframe display.

So there's another update and the current one is a Dec-1beta.
