Hi Specktech, so on Windows when you right click on the file in a File Explorer window, there will be a menu that pops up which has an "Open with" sub menu under it.

Go into the "Open with" sub menu and at the bottom of it there's a menu item "Choose default program..." . Pick that to open up a dialog that will allow you to set the default program. Set the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" checkbox on the dialog.

This stuff is called "File associations" and there is some more info on setting them here:

Awesome, Thank you so much for that info. I always spread the word about Moi3D. I always tell people to check out that wiki. And Pilou's elephant repository. Thanks again. p.s. I found this podcast that you did about 10 years ago on the internet. So cool hearing you explain your path and about the development of Moi3D. That was a really good conversation. Have a good one Michael.

Hi Michael. I was hoping you (or someone else on the forum) could give me some detailed step-by-step instructions on how to install the Cherub theme and icons on Moi3d beta-5 for Mac.
I purchased the package and decompressed it, then copied the files including the font and icon folders to the directories specified in the instructions; googled and followed other instructions; tried everything I can think of but have had no success. It switched to a dark theme and removed the 'Manage Themes' button from the Options menu - but that was all.
Any and all advice would be most appreciated. Cheers, Simon.

Hi Simon,

This might be of interest, later on.

[removed two video links as they may be only valid with older versions v3/v4 and confuse]

"Custom UI Plugin" (not a 'skin' just extra functionality)
https://moi3d.com/wiki/MaxScriptArchive (top of page "customui")

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm1v-PmhKNI

I think you can fairly easy add your icons on the bottom using custom ui.

Cheers

What do the included instructions say exactly?

If it says to overwrite the entire standard UI inside the MOI app itself, that is problematic on any MOI version other than the one they snapshotted from.

Probably that theme pack will only work correctly on Moi version 4.

In Moi version 5 there is a new theme mechanism to improve this exact thing, so you can distribute a theme and switch back and forth between themes without needing to modify the app installation itself.

Yeah that sounds like you're ending up with a UI copied from MOI version 4.

Basically you'll be missing everything that had new UI in version 5.

I'd recommend to only use this package on MOI version 4 and not v5 or later.
