Thanks Michael,
I will send you a file the next time I am able to get the snapping issue to replicate.

Hi Michael,
I hope you are doing well :-)
I think I faced something weird and I want to share it with you.
I visited "https://www.artstation.com/artwork/28ykJx" where Christian Schweger (Zarkow) shares a link: "https://onedrive.live.com/authkey=%21AK1TMYTX1cHJDWc&id=1C86BCB357547A01%212535&cid=1C86BCB357547A01&parId=root&parQt=sharedby&o=OneUp"
there you will find a zip file called "F_Concept" if you unzip this file you will find 3 files in it. I double clicked on the file called "F_Concept.stp" obviously MOI3D opens but when I hover mouse cursor over the 3dmodel I hear a noise! it is audible when cursor moves over the model if the cursor stays still there will be no sound! and the sound is like a very low buzzing sound! Could you check and see if you get the same results? (I suggest you to use earphones/head phone) and if yes then what could be the reason?
Best,
Psygorn(Drillbit)

Hi Psygorn, When I try opening your link above I get an error screen:
quote:
"This item might not exist or is no longer available
This item might have been deleted, expired, or you might not have permission to view it. Contact the owner of this item for more information."
So I'm not able to test it over here, but it's very likely to be something very specific to your hardware and not likely to reproduce on other machines.
My guess is that it could have something to do with your cooling system. Like probably some fans that used to be silent are now making some noise.
Has it been a long time since you've cleaned dust out of your computer?

Hi Michael,
Thank you for your reply,
That could be the reason, however, I tried to import another relatively large stp file into MOI (of a size of 37.5 meg) I did not get the same results. But I will check my machine for the dust.
Meanwhile could you check below link? see if it works for you.

Hi Psygorn, thanks I was able to get the file now. I tested over here and no noises are being generated over here.

Hi Michael :)
Any news about the developing of the V5?
Which new feature are you working on?
Have you got some release date for the next betas or (maybe) for the final official version?
Thanks in advance and have a nice day!
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Marco, sorry no news yet. I'll definitely be releasing a new beta by the end of this month since the current one expires on April 9th.
I hope that it won't be too long before the v5 final version but I don't know exactly when yet.
I've been working on some experimental things which I'm not sure will work out yet.

Hi Micheal, take your time, I can't wait to see what's new you're working on.
I'm trying out a new application that uses the Parasolid kernel, and it has some useful features, maybe I'm aware of this.

Hi Michael, Thanks for the reply.

My first guess would be coil whine.

Hi, Charlie (BLARBLES),
I didn't know there is a technical term for it! (although I had known this phenomenon), However, the fact that I can hear this noise whenever I open a specific file inside MOI surprises me! (I also have a decent machine) so maybe my headphone has a weird problem!? anyway, this thread is about V5 beta and maybe I should not post anymore about it here ;-)

Hi Chri,

It looks useful, I'd like to work on something like that at some point.

[Request] I want delete and rename to manage Objects.
If I gave a Solid a name and made it into an object, but accidentally included a Curve, I want to recreate the object.
I think there is no way to delete an object.
Not to delete the model, of course. I just want to manage the object list.
I installed the beta of version 5 today.
A menu was added to Objects but it was only about groups. It would be nice to have delete and rename here.
Should I have write this in the V5 Wish List thread?

Hi marzRX, in the next v5 beta, when you click on something in the "Objects" section of the Scene Browser you'll get this menu pop up:

Wow, next v5 beta.
Can I rename the object name as well as the group name? And I also want "delete".
I look forward to the release of the next beta. Thank you.

Hi marzRX, yes both assign and rename work on either object names or groups there.
I don't have delete there yet but that seems like a good idea.
