for 1 -> i've made a script for that - polycut
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8665.18
select object -> cut - great for sketching

Cemortan_Tudor
The script causes Moi3d v4 to hang and get stuck :(
Tnx
From: Cemortan_Tudor
works fine here
not finished - yes, missing conditions ~ like if u dont select an object exit command or if polyline is not closed close and cut
But at time i was scripting was enough to have at least such one

Is it possible to use 123D as a companion to MOI for fillets?
Does the below link have the latest version of it? is it version 2.2.14 ?
https://web.archive.org/web/20170202170834/http://www.123dapp.com/design
What software (preferably free & light weight) you suggest to be used as a companion for fillets?
From: Psygorn (DRILLBIT)
Hello AlexPolo,
Is it compatible with MOI? Could one export & import models from MOI to it back & forth?
From: Psygorn (DRILLBIT)
Hi Pilou,
What do u mean? Do u mean it is possible to have sequential shortcuts in MOI?
For example imagine I want to use Boolean Merge, Could I press C -> B -> M (C for targeting Construct, B for Boolean & M for Merge)
Is it possible to do so in MOI?

Hi Psygorn,
re:

Yes, I think you can transfer back and forth to it using STEP format.
> Does the below link have the latest version of it? is it version 2.2.14 ?
Sorry, don't know.
> What software (preferably free & light weight) you suggest to be used as a companion for fillets?
You might try ViaCAD, OnShape, or Fusion360.

Sorry no currently there isn't anything set up to do keyboard shortcuts in that particular way.

Tanx,
By the way the link I mentioned before seems not working! for me! It is as if it keeps downloading for ever!
From: Frenchy Pilou (PILOU)
Yes it's very difficult to download somewhere this 2.2.14....
Another free one is Design Spark Mechanical 5.0 but it's some tricky for use it with Moi! ;)
(it's a light version of SpaceClaim)

https://web.archive.org/web/20160218191658/http://www.123dapp.com/design - this link works I dont know which version is it. This site shows www from past dates (old www backups).

In the matter of ViaCad. I`ve asked on their forum. Only ViaCad Pro has got ACIS kernel modeling tools. ViaCad 2d/3d doesn`t. It changed lately. It`s not so cheap to buy it only for fillets.
There is some open source kernel OpenInventor (Coin3d framework). If Inventor has better fillets than MoI3d and Rhino then why someone won`t build paid plugin for both with using that kernel? I think many people would buy it. Only for fillets, offsets and shelling (if its better). I`ve heard that some of FreeCAD users want to implement that kernel in FreeCAD (I think I`ve heard it here about future plans of changing freecad:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z-GBpV97q8)
From: Michael Gibson
HI mdesign, OpenInventor is not a CAD geometry kernel, it is what is called a "scene graph". It's basically a library for managing the display of 3D objects.
There is also a CAD program called "Inventor" made by Autodesk but it does not have any relation to the OpenInventor scene graph library.

Are you sure about this? Their feature comparison page here:
https://www.punchcad.com/product-line-comparison
Has "ACISĀ® Solid Modeling Kernel" and "Shelling, Blending" both marked for ViaCAD 2D/3D...
- Michael
From: mdesign
On one chart they showed that ACIS is inside on other they showed there is no ACIS. That second was changed since I`ve read about it.
I`ve asked on their forum cause I`ve read few threads there about it and I want to make sure.
http://forum.punchcad.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10517#post39953
They sends only PRO version as trial so it`s impossible to check before buying.
If it`s true then it`s dirty move to write not truth on their site.
QUOTE: "PunchCAD, that is, ViaCAD and Shark and variants, was originally the 'retail' line that grew out of Concepts Unlimited. Punch! was bought up by Encore/Broderbund, Encore by IMSI in turn. Licensing arrangements have been subject to those realignments, ownership and management changes, the loss of Mesh-to-NURBS and even the removal of ACIS from base versions are an unfortunate outcome. It's useful to remember that Shark Pro V10 and PPPro have flexible license that enable installation on multiple PCs, even now. Installations can only be open one at a time, but V11 and V12 can't be multiple-installed, and to me, that's as great a loss as mesh-to-nurbs. Maybe time for dongles to make a comeback?"

Hmmm. well the responses on the forum do not seem to be from someone at the company itself.
That's a bummer if that's correct though.

1) this was official forum
2) look on features in ViaCAD Pro they say something about ACIS in ViaCAD 2d/3d is nothing. Look also that ViaCad 2d/3d has no STEP translator which has been done with using ACIS.
Edit: For that price of ViaCAD Pro is possible to buy parametric Alibre Design (also ACIS).
Edit2: Is it very expensive to include ACIS kernel from MoI modeling tools into even if MoI would cost twice? Is it possible? I mean only those which are better. Or its bad idea to mix more than one kernel in CAD software? I deam loudly about MoI with some ACIS/parasolid filleting, offseting and shelling. I`m asking because in Rhino I use very nice Xnurbs patching plugin which has own kernel only for this single operation and it`s brilliant. I hope there will be more plugins like that.
From: Michael Gibson
Hi mdesign, I guess it looks like that is true about ViaCAD 2D/3D "regular" version not having ACIS anymore. It's also discussed here:
http://forum.punchcad.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10462#post39765
That doesn't make a lot of sense to rip out so many functions from a program and then present it as a new version to upgrade to.

Here is MOI to 123d and Back to MOI via STEP file format.

that's a pity. I wanted to give them my money but after seeing that compare chart and for moves like this I won`t.
That purchase of ViaCAD PRO for more than 600$ is without sense.

But no need to used (for avoid any problem) it if you turn the Generator curve of the sphere before the Union! ;)
It must don't touch the cube!
Then Fillets works like a charm! :)
Try with this one!

Don't ask me why! :) you must turn it! (fillet 1 will be fine)
