Hi Heiner, there are a few different edge selection scripts which Brian has links to above, but none that do exactly what you describe though. Right now it would probably be difficult to script something like that because there isn't currently anything set up for a script to evaluate the geometry of the edge curve like get tangent directions and things like that.
