Hi glmr, another option is to use the Transform > Move command with the "Bounding box center" option as the basepoint. To do this, select your lines, run Transform > Move and at the first prompt where it asks you to pick your base point, there is a button available labeled "Bounding box center". Push this button now to use the center of the selection's bounding box as the base point for the move. Then click the target point at the center of the circle.
Also the Transform > Align command should work for that with the "Move as group" checkbox enabled, if that is not working as you expected can you please post an example file so I can see exactly what is going on there?
