I'm looking for software (free I hope) to analyze my MoI models for weak (thin) areas prior to 3D printing.
I'm creating models in MoI, saved as STL, to send to my son to print on his Robo 3D printer. I don't have access to the printer's software.
I'm looking for a way to identify areas that are too thin and may cause issues while printing, or be weak in usage.
For example, a solid plate with a diagonal hole will have a thin edge around part of the hole. I could get in the habit of adding a fillet to all holes to solve this example, but there are other situations as well.
I don't need a full stress analysis program, just something that would show a "heat map" where the thinnest areas exist.
I have Keyshot rendering software and even thought of applying a SSS material which becomes less transparent with density.
Thanks - Ed Ferguson
