Surface from loft

Hi there,

I've created a cylinder (#1) which has nice and simple topology. #2: Copying the top and bottom circle curves from the object preserves the topology (or point count to say). My question refers to #3: If I create a loft from these two circles, then why does MoI divide the circles in so many parts and therefore creates a much denser and more complex geometry? I would like to understand, so I can choose the right tool in the right situation.
