Hi Everyone

I am having great trouble getting this shape to become a solid, it was a solid before i started messing with it. Is there a method or script which can find the "hole" which prevents it from being made a solid by running the join surfaces command? I can get the original piece back but it would be nice to know how i get out of this problem as i seem to keep coming across it.
