The phone number worked. After repeating the 35 digit fingerprint code, military style, over the phone, support provided a (16 digit) "wipe" code.
This permitted re-activation of ViaCAD9, at work. (Must repeat the entire process for the home computer.)
The ViaCAD9 fingerprint error window must remain OPEN until the "wipe"code is provided. There is some sort of long-ish time limit also.
The fingerprint is some sort of a code for the physical state of the computer, so changing some things, like the hard drive being "cloned" to SSD causes
the fingerprint error. ViaCAD still worked for a boot to the old hard drive. Re-install of ViaCAD9 to the SSD did not work, so the code must be stored
somewhere, probably in the registry (?).

(There had been an email reply from ENCORE, which was overlooked, and likely would not have worked anyway.)
