Hi blindfoldjump,

Select the edge you want to duplicate, then use Copy / Paste, either by the buttons on the Edit palette, or just by Ctrl+C Ctrl+V shortcut keys.

When you use Ctrl+C to copy an edge it is copied as a regular independent curve object so that's what you'll have when you paste it in. After the paste the duplicated curve will be selected.

One thing to watch for - some commands like Fillets work on edge selections and if you have some separate curves stacked up right on top of edges it can then be difficult to select the edge. In a situation like that you need to select the curve and hide or delete it before you'll be able to select the edge very easily. Curves have selection priority over edges so when there are 2 stacked up it will be the curve that will usually be targeted by your click.
