On the mac you can find the commands folder by right-clicking the app icon, and choosing "Show package contents" on the menu that pops up. Inside there go to drive_c/moi/commands.

To add in a new plug-in command the files for the command (usually there are 2 files, a .js and a .htm file) need to be copied into that commands folder. That will then make a new command available to MoI and to trigger the command you can either set up a shortcut key with the command name in it (the name of the .js or .htm files, without any file extension) or you can also push Tab and type in the command name and hit enter to launch it.
