Hi Don, one thing I should mention is that although there isn't a "named view" mechanism, the current active view for all viewports is saved and restored when writing to 3DM format.

So if you want to be able to return to a particular view later on, one basic way to do that currently is to save out a copy of your file, your view will be restored when you do a File > Open of that same 3DM file later on.
