Hi Andrei, sorry it won't work for that direction in the case of a sphere, that's just due to how the script functions by generating the points along the selected edge. A sphere is a case that only has an edge running in one UV direction.

Bit you can generate your desired isocurves for the special case of a sphere though by selecting the sphere edge, and running Transform > Array > Circular with the sphere's origin or pole point as the center point for the circular array.
