Hi Fran, some more info on color in STEP files:

So I've looked into this a bit more today, and there is a way with the STEP AP203 variant (which MoI exports) to have surface colors assigned, and MoI does write those out currently. If you open up your STEP file in a text editor you'll see them as COLOUR_RGB() entries in the file.

But it appears that only some programs will read this type of color information. Other programs (including MoI's own importer) will only read colors if they are present as layer assignments rather than just direct individual object color properties.

I guess it's really the layer definitions that are the main thing added in for AP214.

What program are you importing the STEP file into?
