Any thoughts about a VR - Oculus Rift mode?

Thanks for taking an off-topic (and psychotic) dump on my thread Bard.... seriously man what the heck. ???

Michael,

My idea wouldn't really need any in-3d interface stuff, just a standard gui viewport button to switch it on and off, as it would just be a camera view kind of thing that would take up the full screen (which would need to be maximised to line up properly in the Rift). I just imagined the standard gui would hide where it blocks any in-3d circles that are picked up by the Rift. There is a lot of black space around the 3d content that can't really be seen normally. You wouldn't need to display anything inside the 3d, just the model. Does this make sense?

Here's a pic of the needed 3d display stuff, the black can't be seen in-Rift. http://i0.wp.com/www.roadtovr.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/crashland-oculus-rift-demo.jpg

I understand if it's not your focus, or it's technically not beneficial to mess with, I just thought it would be a fun and useful way to look at what you've modeled. Just fwiw.

Going beyond this into a full VR modeling mode, you could use something like the Razer Hydra or Sixsense STEM system controllers as "hands" in a VR space, where you can do a full VR implementation. Hovering button bars and such.

Sixsense is doing their own VR modeling software here - http://sixense.com/sixensestudios/makevr
It's pretty basic though.
