It depends on the "Profiles" mode that's being used for the loft. Usually the profiles will be refit by curves so that the profiles are matched up by the distance traveled along each curve and not squished or stretched depending on control point spacing. So by default it's influenced more by the overall shape and length of the curve and not by any individual control points.
