I'm going to switch to Cut2d for my CAM software. I previously exported everything from MoI into .stl files, but it looks like Cut2d can't import .stl files. What do people recommend? I don't want to lose any detail in this export process.

Cut2d appears to accept the following file types:
.dxf
.dwg
.dps
.ai
.pdf
.pvc
.v3d
.v3m

But MoI appears to only export the following types:
.igs/.iges
.sat
.stp/.step
.obj
.stl
.3ds
.lwo
.fbx
.skp
.ai

The only common format is Adobe Illustrator files, but is that my best option? I thought AI files were 2D.
