Objects vanishing out of file ...

Hmm, that's an unusual problem. If you can repeat it by opening one particular SAT file and then saving again, can you please send that SAT file to me at moi@moi3d.com so I could look into that?

Also is it possible that you did a File > Export to write out the file rather than File > "Save As" ? Export is short for "Export selected objects", and it writes out only the currently selected objects to the file you pick. So for example if you had some objects selected and then did Export that is normal that only those objects would get written. If you want to write out everything regardless of selection use "Save As" instead.

OBJ files usually contain polygon mesh geometry which is a much different kind of object structure than the NURBS models that MoI is focused on working with.

There is a separate utility that you can use to extract the wireframe of an OBJ file as line curves which you can then import see here for more info on that, which is available here:
