Hi Doug, thought I'd throw in my two cents...
Since MoI is using DirectX (and nothing as complex as a full-blown vid game) the load on the GPU should me nominal, unless your Mesh setting in MoI's options is set at too low of an angle producing and exponential number of polys.
In my short experience with Invidia cards, overheating can often be caused by two things: Overclocking and under-cooling.
The venting of the card and it's associated fans should be running free of dust buildup.
When I built my last system at work, the ASUS motherboard wanted to put the Invidia card into a "optimal gaming performance mode".
And the card was allowed to clock way beyond the "suggest" safe levels. Gamers can manage these tweaks, but with MoI you need just enough maneuverability verses more stability.
An Invidia update is what brought the issue to light when Windows would black out.
