Could you maybe post your current attempt where you found things difficult to control? That may then make it easier to give some suggestions for your particular situation.
One thing to be aware of is that the points where you pick on both the base surface and the target surface for Flow are significant - the objects will be rotated as needed such that the 2 places that you picked near to are aligned with one another.
So if you just pick at some random spot on each one it could be easy to not be in control of the rotation.
