motion simulation bongo question

is the animation plug in bongo simply an animation function found in maya, lightwave, 3ds max etc.?

if you create an object in moi3d, can you simply animate it in an animation package like maya or 3ds max? or do you really have to do it inside of rhino3d itself? does bongo do anything different from the maya or 3ds max animations?
