IGS to LWO with MOI

Hi, I using MOI to convert an existing mesh, supplied by a client in IGS format, to LWO, so I can render it in Modo. The project is a simple animation where the mesh spins, on the Y, 360 degrees, the camera is static.
When I render out the animation the shadows look like they are baked onto the surface, giving the appearance that the camera is moving, not the mesh, which is not the effect I'm going for. I know it has something to do with the vertex map. If I delete or "Clear" the map, in Modo, the mesh becomes very chunky. I haven't had much luck in the Modo forum so I thought I would try here, after searching through the Modo related posts I wasn't able to find a thread that spoke to this issue, so I'm hoping that some of you will be able to help me with this. I have attached the animation so you can see what I am referring to.
Thanks

W
