Keep object names when exporting

I have s little problem here. I've imported a model in STEP format. All parts are named. When export it to 3ds an import in my rendering programm the names are not there. All parts are named obj0, obj1, obj2 and so on. When using obj as export format all names are kept as original. Is there a possibility to keep the names at the 3ds export?

By the way, is it possible to reesize the part of the ui you see in the second screenshot?
