Actually I open the STL file directly into TurboCAD Pro v12. I then save as an IGES file without tweeking it in TC. I then import the IGES file into MoI with IGES setting to stitch the surfaces together. So far, every time it comes into MoI as a solid body. I am using the latest MoI v2 beta if that helps.
