Hey everyone,
This is a small work ive done at school using MoI 3D
At first I wanted to do it in 3D so I started to draw gears in 2D inside MoI
Then I didn't had enough time to extrude and chamfer everything so I moved to a full 2D work

Once I had every gears inside MoI in 2D I made planar for all the gears and I exported as Wavefront OBJ
Then in Cinema 4D I made a render at 300dpi (7016px by 4959px) with a parralel camera
The text "Le Jeu de l'Amour et du Hasard" is done inside MoI and the rest was added in photoshop
Colors are done inside Cinema 4D but I also used MoI styles to get a preview inside MoI
Im not very proud of the colors I choosed but that's because I didn't had enough time :)

MoI 3D made this work possible for 3 reasons:
1. Easy booleans
2. Export to OBJ with planar
3. Awesome snaping tools

I found MoI 3D to be better than Illustrator for booleans and snaping tools !

Here's the result:

How do I made the gears ?

1. From MoI top view draw a circle from center point (let say 5cm radius)
2. Offset this circle 3 times inside and 3 times outside (let say .5cm offset)
3. Take the polygon tool (the thing to draw stars, or hexagones) and choose manual mode and 20 to 50 spikes (depends on your circle radius and how many theeths you want on your gear)
4. Draw the star from your original circle center point, then choose a point on the farthest circle, and one on the nearest circle.
5. Select the star and two circles and do a "trim"
6. Delete everything you don't need
7. Union every lines, and you got a gear !
