How to write numbers with fractions

Hi Mark, normally those kinds of coordinates are used for feet and inches type units only.

You need to have your unit system set (under Options / General) to something other than "No unit system", and then you can enter in those kinds of coordinates if you include the ' and " marks along with them, like for 8 1/2 feet you enter this:

8 1/2'

Normally when you want that style, you should go to Options / General, and set "Unit system: Feet & Inches".

That will cause the base units to be in feet and all the coordinates and distances will be displayed using that fractional type style, like 8' 2 1/2".

Otherwise if you want to do it for something other than feet or inches that is possible by typing an expression using the + sign, like: 2+1/2 , that will result in 2 + 0.5 = 2.5 units.

Using the + method will work with any unit system and not just for feet and inches.
