The problem with trying to put something other than around the swatch is it makes it makes it look like you can then use that other part to adjust this setting.

Since this setting is controlled by clicking on the swatch, it just does not fit very well to do something aside from the swatch.

Can you possibly show a screenshot of what it looks like on your screen? Are you possibly using a high res monitor or a large or small UI size that makes it not show up very well? Maybe if I can see some conditions where it does not work well I can do something to detect that and draw it thicker or something like that.
