Exporting objects from Moi to 3DS Max is a disaster when rendering..

I am wondering if anyone else is exporting objects form moi for use in 3DS max. No matter what I try it as, .obj (highly subdivided), .3ds, .iges it gives a poor output in the 3DS max renders and when I create a very similar object in Rhino and try it in 3ds max it works fine. It gives the "staircasing" pixelated effect on reflections when I am using environment maps and just poor reflections overall.

I like moi a lot and would like to continue using it but I'm afraid I won't be able to if I can't get this figured out. Thanks for any advice.
