Hi andras, I think it would probably not be good to change it always to be a static command, because people who are working on a more typical amount of curves (like extruding only 2-3 curve at once) get a nice benefit from having the full feedback.

One thing that I have thought about doing is to switch the extrude into a lighter "wireframe" kind of feedback when the number of curves being handled was large.

Currently though if the mouse interaction is not going fast enough, you may want to enter in some numbers in the "Distance" input instead of using the mouse inside the viewport.
