He's always been my favorite too.
Thanks for the cool links, I love this stuff too.
There are some good images of related stuff at Flickr. Try http://flickr.com/groups/retrorockets/
a guy callec BuildersStudio is doing some great stuff out of actual materials like wood.
and at http://flickr.com/groups/86667072@N00/ there are a few Spanish sci-fi mag covers.

Right now I am making a horse sculpture and throwing together some furniture during rest breaks from it.
My next after that is going to be something sci-fi, maybe a raygun.

oh, oh
I remembered this one:

theseus88bc at Renderosity has been doing a series of mag covers called Space Science Digest. The link goes to one with Robby.

I keep adding stuff, but I also wanted to share this. I thought about doing a space cargo ship and decided to get logical about how it would really need to be designed. I figured it would need something at the front to deflect debris, crew quarters at the center where it's safest, the engine at the rear. The cargo containers would probably be square for efficient storage and ideally accessable on 5 of the 6 sides. I thought you could probably fit three around the center and still have room to move between them.
I sketched it up and thought, "hey, that looks familiar"
