Hi angeliclight, yes the problem tends to be that many programs don't just render, they also have modeling and animation functions as well so that tends to make them rather complex.
I agree with Ed that HyperShot seems to be the all-around easiest to use of anything that I have seen - it's focused just on rendering and nothing else. One of the best things about it is that it does lighting from a pre-defined environment image capture, this makes it easy to get very nice lighting without messing around with setting up all your lights yourself, that tends to be one of the most difficult steps normally.
