There isn't any way to do that currently but I will add in an option for that.

I'm not quite sure I understand this completely - could you please describe a bit more what you mean by "subset menu", and there isn't any dimension option of "from frame", do you mean "From object" ?

If you mean you want a keyboard shortcut that trigger horizontal dimension with the "From object" mode activated immediately, you can do that by setting up a keyboard shortcut like this:

DimHorizontal FromObject

Put that whole line into the "Command" part of a shortcut key. Then if you preselect a curve clicking on the line segment of interest, you can then press that shortcut key to place a horizontal dimension set to the endpoints of that line automatically without having to click on the points.

You can also set up these for vertical and aligned dimensions:

DimVertical FromObject

DimAligned FromObject
