I would like to pick the brains of the forum

Hi All!
I would like to make a model of a daffodil leaf, example: http://www.photo-dictionary.com/phrase/8960/daffodil-leaves.html
The thing is I want to make the stem/bottom of the leaf round and then be able to manipulate the shape of the leaf, but also the thickness and bend the leaf over at the top. I'll be creating a 3d print for a final result. I'm not looking to make it photorealistic/real, but more just capture the essence of the leaf.

So the questions is any thoughts on the best tools/procedure for this? I'm still fairly new to modelling, but was probably going to start with sweep and rails?

Any ideas most appreciated!

Best

Peter
