It was in my mind for a long time,
in fact many months ago I started the threads "scripts for 2d workflow" and "Moi and Affinity designer for 2D workflows".

I didn't yet tried your script but its name is enough for me :)

Months ago I have written this custom commands :

It was the first attempt of a public implementation of "Lasso" select related to curves, but unfortunately, I never had enough free time to rewrite it for V4 and continuing the developing.

Now with this new thread and your new script and above all the new long awaited API functions added by Michael, I think that now we can start to write very powerful script for curve manipulation!!
