If it's any help, when I was investigating Blender last year, I found a customized Blender workspace which was optimized for rendering. It has a palette with many materials and a lighting setup, all ready to go. When I tried it with a few example files, they rendered successfully, but I never got to the point of importing my own models. I found it on the Blender site or forum but I don't recall exactly where it is, now..Maybe someone knows where to find it?
