re: set default styles - the way you do that is to set up a blank model with the styles how you want it, then save that off to a 3DM file.

Then go to Options > General > Template file: and specify that file as the startup template.

Then when you start up MoI or do A File > New, that 3DM file will be used as a template and the styles (and objects if you wish - anything that is stored on a per-file basis) will be sucked in from that file.
