So it seems the new rebuild works on the individual segments and the old one can work as a whole object.

Here is a file. Rebuild with 30 points and rebuildcurve with 30 points.

The new one will create 30 points for each segment and the old will use 30 points for the entire object, creating a new single 30 point object.

This is very useful for me.
