Hi Bodo-Lutz, if you're talking about the version number of the PDF, any version should work ok I would think.

The bigger issue is not the PDF version but what content is contained inside of it.

Moi will only read vector drawing elements (lines and curve paths) from PDF files, not text entities and not bitmap images.

If when you view the PDF in a viewer app and you zoom in to it, and it gets a blocky jagged type look then that means the content in the PDF is a bitmap image and not drawing elements and MoI won't read that type of PDF content.
