This is not the same hourglass. Albert Karlen created two different hourglasses. The one I was interested in and reproduced is the hourglass with Archimedean screw, it is hollow (here: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=10536.5). The images seem to me to be quite self-explanatory!
