Hi Lara,
if I understand correctly you are cutting out areas of a ring.
The method shown in the animation shows a way to help the fillet operation by Boolean difference the cutaway with the one of the fillets done on the cutter.
I also added the chamfer in this example. (note the chamfer needs to be slightly bigger than the ring diameter to avoid cutting up to an edge.)
