Frank -

I use PLA 90% of the time. It does absorb water, so use it for indoor projects only. No issues with electronics indoors. After trying several brands, I settled on www.proto-pasta.com

For outdoor projects, use PETG filament. PETG is used to make water bottles.

I purchase my brass heat-set threaded inserts online from https://www.mcmaster.com/heat-set-inserts

Here's one of my projects designed in MoI and printed with PLA filament. http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8944.1

I had some issues with the corners of the lid warping during the print. I now model a 4 layer high, 2" diameter disk at each corner to help hold the object to the bed. Makes the model look like it has Mickey Mouse ears. The ears get cut off after the print is finished and cooled down.

Looking forward to see what else you end up making.
